Overview

Karbs Cafe, Araya, nestled in the heart of Surabaya’s lively Ruko Araya complex, stands out as a charming destination for those seeking a blend of comfort and quality in a café setting. This cafe offers a welcoming atmosphere with well-thought-out interior design that invites guests to relax, work, or catch up with friends. The space radiates warmth and calm, making it an ideal spot for breakfast, brunch, or a casual hangout.

The culinary offerings here reflect a careful balance between sweet and savory, focusing strongly on bakery delights paired with light, satisfying meals. Among the crowd favorites are the salt bread and grilled cheese sandwiches, which receive high praise for their rich flavors and perfect textures. The salt bread, in particular, has become something of a signature item, earning enthusiastic recommendations from multiple visitors.

Equally notable are the innovative twists like the Black Matcha SB and the mochi bread, which adds a cultural and textural layer to the menu. While most guests appreciate the freshness and taste, some nuances appear in the mochi croissant’s texture, suggesting a slight inconsistency on occasion. Regardless, the mochi variety remains a highlight, showcasing the cafe’s dedication to merging traditional flavors with contemporary pastry techniques.

For those seeking a more substantial meal, the grilled chicken Caesar salad stands out as a thoughtful choice, combining hearty portions with quality ingredients like sourdough bread that elevates the dish’s appeal. The menu caters well to a diverse audience—from early risers craving a warm breakfast to casual diners looking for a cozy environment to linger.

Customer service complements the dining experience, with staff recognized for their helpfulness and friendly demeanor, enhancing the welcoming vibe throughout the day. Though pricing is moderate, many patrons feel the quality and portion size justify the value, particularly considering the care put into each dish.

In summary, Karbs Cafe, Araya is a destination that harmonizes taste, atmosphere, and service. It appeals especially to those who appreciate artisanal breads, thoughtfully prepared sandwiches, and an inviting space to enjoy a slow-paced meal in East Surabaya. Breakfast date at Karbs Café Araya was perfect! I ordered iced americano, grilled cheese sandwich, Korean salted bread, and chocolate mochi bread — everything hit the spot. The mix of sweet and savory was just right, and the place itself feels warm and relaxing. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a nice breakfast spot in East Surabaya.

a very cozy cafe in surabaya. felt really nice to be inside, with a really good interior and calming atmosphere. i've been to the branch in the west, so i was excited to try this one. i ordered the honey cheese bread and the mochi strawberry croissant (i'm sure this is what it's called). the honey cheese bread was super nice! got sweet and savoury locked into one meal. the mochi croissant, on the other hand.. did not seem very fresh. seems like it's been on display all day. plus, i couldn't even taste the "mochi texture" that they were aiming for, though i saw what they wanted to mean as the mochi. regardless, i enjoyed my visit. service was quick and nice, nice vibes that make you want to stay all day.
